The Shrimad Bhagwat is the most sacred book of the Hindus. It is considered to be the purest and greatest of all the puranas or old literature and it invokes devotion towards Lord Vishnu, primarily focusing on Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Written by Vyasadeva, it has eighteen thousand verses which are presented in twelve cantos.
Respected Goswamiji says that the Shrimad Bhagwat is important as it helps us interpret issues relating not only to self-liberation but even our day-to-day problems. It reveals the means for becoming free from all material work, and ways of devotion to God Vishnu. It gives a tremendous insight, a profound vision, and an entirely new perspective to the person who hears the narrative. Goswamiji says, anyone who seriously tries to understand, hears and chants the verses of the Shrimad Bhagwat with devotion to God Vishnu or Lord Krishna, becomes completely liberated from material bondage and attains moksha or liberation from the cycle of birth and death in the material world.
